1. Neglecting Material Specifications and Grades

For instance, API 5L pipes are an industry standard specifically designed for oil and gas applications, with particular specifications and grades. Using a generic pipe where a specialized one is needed can lead to premature failure and significant economic losses.

 

2. Improper Handling and Storage

Steel pipes, despite their toughness, can be damaged if not handled and stored correctly. Dents, scratches, or bends can compromise their structural integrity, leading to leaks or bursts under pressure.
